๐Ÿฐ Harihar Fort – History Harihar Fort, also known as Harshagad, is an important hill fort located near Trimbakeshwar in the Nashik district of Maharashtra. It stands at an altitude of around 3,676 feet (1,120 meters) above sea level and was strategically built to guard ancient trade routes. ๐Ÿ“œ Ancient Origins The fort is believed to have been constructed during the Yadava dynasty of Devagiri period (around the 9th–14th century). Its main purpose was to protect the trade route passing through Gonda Ghat, which connected the western coast of India with the Deccan plateau. Because of its unique triangular prism shape and steep cliffs, the fort was naturally strong and difficult to attack. ⚔️ Mughal and Maratha Control In the 17th century, the fort came under the control of the Mughal Empire.
