๐Ÿ—“️ Day 1 – Manali Local Sightseeing

Our journey begins with local sightseeing in Manali.

Sistuated in the cedar forests of Dhungri, Hadimba Devi Temple, Built in 1553 AD, the temple is dedicated to Goddess Hadimba, the wife of Bhima from the epic Mahabharata. Unlike typical temples, Hadimba Temple does not have a large idol; instead, the goddess is worshipped in the form of a footprint carved into stone, which adds to its unique spiritual character.

The architecture is a fine example of traditional Himachali wooden style, with a pagoda-shaped roof, intricately carved doors, and a stone base. The surrounding forest creates a calm, almost mystical atmosphere, especially in the early morning and evening hours.

The temple is not only a religious site but also an important cultural symbol of Himachal Pradesh, reflecting local beliefs, history, and harmony with nature.

After spending a 2-3 hours we now head to the natural hot water springs of Vashisht,

Located just a few kilometers from Manali, Vashisht Village is known for its spiritual atmosphere, traditional Himachali houses, and natural hot water springs that flow throughout the year.

The village is home to the Vashisht Temple, dedicated to Sage Vashisht, one of the most respected sages from the Ramayana. According to local belief, Sage Vashisht meditated here, and the hot water springs are considered sacred and healing.

The naturally heated water contains sulphur, and many visitors believe that bathing in the separate men’s and women’s bathing pools helps relieve skin problems, joint pain, and fatigue. Experiencing hot water in the middle of a cold mountain region feels almost magical.

Beyond the temple, Vashisht offers narrow stone lanes, apple orchards, small cafรฉs, and peaceful viewpoints overlooking the Beas Valley, making it a perfect place for slow travel.

Later in the evening we head to market area and the lively vibes of Mall Road,

From handmade woolen clothes, Himachali caps, shawls, and handicrafts to local street snacks like momos, maggi, and roasted corn, Mall Road offers something for every traveler. The road also has restaurants, bakeries, and small cafรฉs where you can relax after a long day of sightseeing.

In the evening, Mall Road turns colorful and vibrant with lights, music, and tourists from all over the country. It’s also a great place to interact with locals, shop for gifts, or simply enjoy a relaxed walk in the cool mountain air.

๐Ÿ—“️ Day 2 – Rohtang Pass ❄️ / Atal Tunnel

Today we come face to face with
the true power of the Himalayas – Rohtang Pass.
Strong winds, towering snow walls,
and rapidly changing weather
remind us that we are only travelers here.

Rohtang Pass, located at an altitude of around 3,978 meters (13,050 feet), is one of the most dramatic and iconic mountain passes in Himachal Pradesh. It connects Manali to the Lahaul–Spiti Valley and offers raw, powerful views of the Himalayas.

The name Rohtang literally means “pile of dead bodies”, a reminder of the harsh and unpredictable weather conditions that travelers once faced here. Even today, sudden snowfall, strong winds, and fast-changing weather make Rohtang a true test of nature’s power.

During summer months, Rohtang is covered in snow, making it a popular destination for snow activities like skiing, snowboarding, and snow play. Surrounded by glaciers, waterfalls, and rugged peaks, the pass feels both thrilling and humbling at the same time.

๐Ÿ—“️ Day 3 & 4 – via Solang Valley | Atal tunnel, Sissu, Shinkula Pass or Baralacha La

Adventure in Solang Valley ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Located just 14 km from Manali, Solang Valley is famous for its adventure sports and stunning mountain views. In summer, the valley is alive with paragliding, ATV rides, ziplining, and zorbing, while winter transforms it into a snow playground with skiing and snow activities.

The day begins with adventure and excitement.
Paragliding, ATV rides, ziplining,
and if the weather allows, snow activities ❄️
Solang Valley pushes you out of your comfort zone
and turns fear into confidence ๐Ÿ’ช

Atal Tunnel – Engineering Marvel of India

The Atal Tunnel, the world’s longest highway tunnel above 10,000 feet, connects Manali to Lahaul Valley under the Rohtang range. Stretching 9.02 km, it reduces travel time drastically and allows year-round access to Lahaul.

As you exit the tunnel, the landscape changes dramatically—from green Manali to the cold desert terrain of Lahaul—making it one of the most exciting transitions in any Himalayan road trip.

As we pass through the Atal Tunnel, an entirely different world of Lahaul Valley opens up ⛰️

Shinkula Pass ๐Ÿ”️ or Baralacha La ❄️
These are the most challenging days of the journey.
One route takes us towards Shinkula Pass (Zanskar route) —

Shinkula Pass – The Silent Himalayan Route

Shinkula Pass (approx. 5,091 meters / 16,703 feet) connects Lahaul to Zanskar and is one of the most remote and less-traveled mountain passes in the region.

This route is not about crowds or comfort—it’s about silence, isolation, and raw Himalayan beauty. Open only for a short season, Shinkula is ideal for experienced travelers looking for untouched landscapes and a true sense of adventure.

Note: Road conditions can be challenging; 4x4 vehicles are recommended.

where silence, extreme altitude, and raw adventure dominate.

The other route leads to Baralacha La,

Baralacha La – Where Valleys Meet

Baralacha La (approx. 4,890 meters / 16,043 feet) is a high-altitude mountain pass on the Manali–Leh Highway. It is where Lahaul, Spiti, and Ladakh landscapes converge.

Surrounded by snowfields, glaciers, and the origin of the Chandra River, Baralacha La offers dramatic views and extreme weather. This pass is often cold and windy, even in summer, but the experience is unforgettable.

These days remind us that the journey matters more than the destination ❤️

๐Ÿ—“️ Day 5 – Shangarh (Sainj Valley)

Away from the crowds,
we reach the magical Shangarh Meadows ๐ŸŒฒ
Lush green fields, believed to be the land of local deities, and a sense of peace that cannot be explained in words.

Shangarh is a quiet, untouched village located in the Sainj Valley of Great Himalayan National Park, around 95–100 km from Manali. Far away from crowds and commercialization, Shangarh is known for its vast green meadows, wooden temples, and deep spiritual calm.

The heart of Shangarh is the Shangarh Meadow, a wide, open grassland surrounded by dense forests and snow-capped peaks. Locals believe this meadow is sacred, and visitors are requested not to step on the grass, preserving its purity and natural beauty.

Nearby stands the ancient Shangarh Devta Temple, dedicated to the local deity. Built in traditional Himachali wooden architecture, the temple reflects the deep connection between nature, faith, and village life.

Shangarh is perfect for slow travel, peaceful walks, photography, stargazing, and reconnecting with nature. There are no loud activities here—only silence, fresh air, and mountain views.

๐Ÿ—“️ Day 6 – Manikaran Sahib & Kasol

A day of spirituality and relaxation in Parvati Valley.

Located in the Parvati Valley, about 85 km from Manali, Manikaran Sahib is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Sikhs and Hindus alike.

The Gurudwara is famous for its natural hot water springs, where water boils at extremely high temperatures. According to belief, these springs appeared due to divine blessings, and even today, food is cooked in the hot water as part of the langar, a rare and powerful sight.

Later, we head to Kasol, where cafรฉs, mountains, and chill vibes make life feel lighter and slower ☕

Kasol – The Relaxed Mountain Escape

Just a few kilometers from Manikaran lies Kasol, a small riverside town known for its relaxed atmosphere, cafรฉs, and scenic beauty.

Kasol is popular among backpackers for its chill vibes, Israeli cafรฉs, riverside walks, and views of pine-covered mountains. Whether you’re sipping coffee by the Parvati River or exploring nearby villages, Kasol is the perfect place to slow down and unwind.
